Redwood National Park

Lady Bird Johnson Grove, Redwood National Park

I’d wanted to visit Redwood National and State Parks for a long time, but a recent road trip to Humboldt County finally brought us there. The place is vast, with several individual parks dotted along the Northern California coast. The absolute highlight of the trip was a visit to Lady Bird Johnson Grove. When we arrived, a thick fog still hung in the upper reaches of the old-growth redwoods and Douglas firs. Wandering the trails beneath was like being in an enchanted forest, but when the sun started to break through and rays of light cut through the towering trees, it was an exceptional experience.
