Pelicans

There’s no shortage of brown pelicans around the Bay Area and up and down the California coast. They’re always fun to watch as they plunge into the water or stand on the rocks, shaking their beaks dry. A migratory flock of American White Pelicans has recently taken up residence at Corte Madera Marsh Ecological Reserve. They’re a little different from the brown pelicans, not just in appearance but also in behavior. They don’t dive for fish but dip their beaks in the water.
